Motivational podcasts I’m loving right now

I feel as though I’m really late on the podcast bandwagon. In fact, I know I’m really late on the podcast bandwagon.

As I mentioned not too long ago; I’ve recently started a new job. And the beauty of my new job is that I can listen to music all day with my headphones in. This was great at first but then I got a little bored of it. Someone I sit with at work suggested I try listening to podcasts as it makes the day go so much quicker… And now I’m obsessed with them!

Being the blogger that I am, I decided to look for some creative/ blog themed podcasts as I thought this would be an interesting place to start and I’ve been really enjoying them. I thought I would share some of my favourites with you.

The Small and Mighty Podcast by Sam Burgess

This is actually an older podcast that isn’t still running but I’ve been able to listen to all of the older episodes. In this series Sam interviews lots of small business owners and they talk about how they got where they are today. For a very long time now I’ve wanted to start an Etsy store so listening to this podcast about how others have started their own business has been really inspirational for me.

Brilliant Business Moms with Beth Anne Schwamberger

This is another series that isn’t currently running but I’ve been binge-listening to all of the older episodes. This podcast primarily focuses on mums that run their own business. There are lots of interesting interviews to listen to such as tips to grow your Pinterest following, how to uncover your writing voice and how to boost blog traffic. I feel like I’ve learnt so much from listening to this podcast and it’s also really inspiring.

Beauty and the Vlog with Erika Vieira

I have only recently started listening to this but omg I love it! I’ve gone all the way back to the start from 2014 and I’m absolutely loving the content. I’ve loved watching Youtube Videos for about 10 years now so I find this series really interesting. Erika interviews lots of different Youtubers and you get to learn their stories of how they began right through to the highs and lows of having a life online.

If anyone has any podcast recommendations please leave them below as I have a lot of hours in my day at work to fill!

    House renovation update! #2

It’s been just over 3 months since we completed on our house! It’s so scary where the time has gone. After spending pretty much every weekend at the house and having absolutely no life whatsoever we’re so close to finishing all of the renovations. We’ve recently had our kitchen and bathroom fitted and we’re currently in the process of having all of the carpets and flooring fitted.

When I look back at the pictures of the very tired and old house that we bought; it makes me so happy and proud of the transformation that we’ve done.

I’ve been sharing various pictures and updates over on Instagram and on Twitter of how we’ve been getting on and I decided it was about time for another blog post!

In this post, I’m sharing some pictures of how we have transformed our lounge.

    House update - sofas

I can’t get over the transformation of this room. We’ve turned it from a very cluttered and dark room to a very bright and open space. We obviously still need to finish furnishing the room, (and get rid of those dust sheets by the fire haha) but I’m so pleased with how this has turned out.

Stay tuned for lots more house posts which will be coming soon!

    Turning 26!

On May 14th I turned 26! I kinda feel old but at the same time, for the first time in a long time, I feel as though I have my life together! I remember when I was about 16 and I had my life mapped out… I would be married by the age of 22 and have kids by the age of 24. How wrong was I?! Haha.

I had the day off of work for my birthday and I actually spent it tile and floor shopping. What a way to spend your birthday! My life in honestly so busy at the moment and any spare moment I have is spent sorting things out for the house.

    LET’S CELEBRATE

I did still spend some time celebrating my birthday though. On 12th May myself and Shaun caught the train to London for the day to see Aladdin. We arrived at lunch time and went for a meal at TGI Friday’s which was amazing and then we headed over to the theatre to watch Aladdin. I absolutely love going to the West End and Aladdin was incredible! I especially loved the bit with the magic carpet. I’m sure you’re all well aware of my love for Disney, so this was the perfect way to spend my birthday!

    WHAT GIFTS I RECEIVED

I always love being nosey and hearing what other people received for their birthday so I thought I would add this to the post. My main present this year was a new camera. I wanted a camera that’s smaller than my DSLR but still takes great quality pictures. I opted for the Canon EOS M10 and I LOVE it. It’s the perfect size to carry around and I’m really pleased with the quality of the images. I also received some money which I’ll be spending on the house and a voucher to a local spa which I can’t wait to use. Of course, I also got The Greatest Showman on DVD as it’s basically the best film ever 😀

     PLANS FOR 26-YEAR-OLD ME

I’m really excited for the next year and it really feels like I’m starting a new chapter of my life. I’ve just started a new job which I’m really enjoying and I’m about to move into my first home with Shaun. There are so many exciting things happening at the moment. I’m jetting off to Majorca on 30th June for a week of relaxation and then I’m excited about the little things like my first Christmas with Shaun in our own home! Also, let’s not forget that I also have a trip to Disney World booked for next year and I’m SO EXCITED for it.

Thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday and a big thank you to Shaun, my friends and my family for making my birthday a good one!

A look back at my 2018 goals and plans

Somehow we’re already halfway through May?! I’m not really sure what has happened to this year but it’s absolutely flown by. We’re approaching the middle of the year so I thought it would be a good idea to look back at the goals that I set for the year and see how I’m getting on. You can read the full post here of my goals and plans for 2018.

    MOVE INTO MY OWN HOUSE

I’m almost there!! We’re still renovating the place but we’re due to be moving in on June 14th. We still have a lot of work to do in the few weeks we have left though. June 14th will also be mine and Shaun’s 3 year anniversary so it’ll be pretty cool to move in on that date.

CONTINUE CRAFTING AND DOING WHAT I LOVE

To be honest this has taken a bit of a back seat the last few months. All of my spare time is spent at the house doing work so I haven’t had any spare time. However, with that being said, I’m having a ‘craft room’ in our house so once I’m all settled in I’ll have all the time in the world to do craft projects.

    OPEN AN ETSY SHOP

This kind of follows on from the above comments. It’s taken a back seat because of the house but it’s still something I really want to do. This may have to wait until 2019 though so I have more time to plan and create things.

    GET A NEW JOB

I’m so happy to say that I finally have a new job. I absolutely hated the job that I’ve been doing for the last 3 years. I actually only started my new job a couple of weeks ago so it’s all fairly new but I’m getting on really well. I’m still working for the same company as before but I’ve moved to a new department which is a lot less stressful than my old role.

    BE HAPPIER

This has come hand in hand with me starting my new job. I honestly feel like the biggest weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and I feel a million times happier. It’s so nice being able to wake up and not dread going into work… And it’s nice to get home from work and not feel completely drained.

I feel like 2018 has been a very good year for me so far and I honestly think it’s going to keep getting better. I’m so excited to move into our house in a few weeks and then I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

How are your plans and goals going so far in 2018?

    Disney World 2019

Eeeeek! I’m so excited. I’ve only gone and booked myself a trip to Walt Disney World for May 2019.

For years and years, I’ve been saying that I’d love to go to Disney World for my birthday. I know that May is a good time of year to visit as the crowds are usually smaller and the weather isn’t too bad. We’ve always visited before in April, July or October and it’s always crazy busy. This is mainly because my brother is a teacher so can only go away during the school holidays.

I’ve pretty much always done Disney World with my family in the past, but next year it’ll just be myself and Shaun. I’m so excited to share my favourite place on earth with Shaun. I know it’s going to be such a magical trip and I’m honestly so grateful and excited that I’m able to do this.

    Where we’re staying

I’ve always stayed offsite in either a villa or on International Drive as it’s usually much cheaper… But thanks to the free Disney Dining plan that’s just been released I’m going to be staying onsite for the first time! We’re heading to Port Orleans Riverside and we’ve opted for a preferred room as I’ve read it’s a pretty big resort. We’re going to be on the quick service dining plan. I probably wouldn’t usually worry about a dining plan too much as I eat quite small portions … but it was free so it was a no-brainer really! I’m so excited to try lots of Disney snacks that I’ve never had before.

    The rough plan

We’ve made the decision to only do the Disney Parks. When I’ve been previous years we’ve also been to Universal/ Islands of Adventure, Kennedy Space Centre etc… I decided I wanted to just do Disney as it means the holiday doesn’t have to be so full on. I really want to be able to make the most of everything that Disney has to offer and be able to chill out a bit and take things a little slower. It’ll be nice to have an afternoon or two that we can just chill out by the pool!

Obviously, we have lots of time to plan. I’m a very organised person and I love Disney so as you can imagine I’ve already started thinking about what I want to do. I’m especially enjoying planning out where I’d like to go on my birthday!

    Booking the holiday

I just wanted to add this bit in; in case anyone else is thinking of booking a trip for a similar time next year. We’ve booked the hotel and park tickets directly through the Disney World website. Most flights aren’t available for May next year but I managed to find a really good deal with Thomas Cook. I flew with them last year to Florida and they were fab. On the return flight, we’re actually flying Premium as it was the same price as economy!!

If you have any tips for staying onsite, the quick service dining plan or any recommendations then please leave them below!
