    Life update! I have a new job

    It’s honestly been a bit of a whirlwind the last few weeks so I thought I would give a little life update!

    I HAVE A NEW JOB ūüėÄ

    Yep, I finally have a new job and I feel like the biggest weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.

    I’m still working for the same company that I currently work for, but I’m moving to a new department. My current job role is a Customer Service Representative … I’ve mentioned on my blog before how unhappy this role makes me and it’s also terrible for my mental health. Talking to rude people day in day out is very difficult and it reached the point that my mental health was SO bad that I knew I needed a change.

    My manager has been an absolute gem through the whole process and is the one who has made all of this possible. He was the one that did all the leg work in getting me moved departments and then it was just down to me to smash the interview … Which I did ūüôā

    MONEY ISN’T EVERYTHING¬†

    I’m actually taking a pay cut… Not a massive pay cut, but it’s still a pay cut! This is something that I had to think long and hard about but I eventually decided that my mental health and my happiness is far more important than having a little bit of extra money each month.

    MY NEW ROLE 

    It’s nothing exciting, its just a Customer Service Administration role. So instead of taking phone calls day in and day out I’ll¬†be dealing with all administration. I know it’s not going to be the most exciting job ever, but the main thing is finding a job that doesn’t negatively impact my mental health. The hours are lovely as its Monday – Friday¬†8am-4pm which is much nicer than the 6.30pm finishes that I currently do.

    I’m so excited to have a job that I can walk away from at the end of the day and not feel stressed. As cliche as it sounds, we do only live once and we shouldn’t spend our¬†lives doing a job that makes us unhappy and makes us anxious. What I’m also excited about¬†is having more time to spend focusing on my blog and my crafts. Currently, when I get home from work I feel so stressed that I can’t be bothered to do anything, so it’ll be nice to come home not feeling stressed and be able to focus my energy on what I love.

    I start my¬†new role of May 8th and I’m honestly just counting down the days! ūüôā¬†

    My plans for spring

    I am so happy that spring has finally arrived. I feel like I’ve been ill the whole of 2018 with the flu and colds and I’m hoping that the spring weather finally helps me to get a little better. There’s something about the springtime that makes me so happy. I always feel so hopeful for a nice long summer and there’s so much to look forward to. I thought I would share with you my plans for spring.

    ITS MY BIRTHDAY 

    My birthday is on May 14th and I’m going to be turning 26. I’m actually really excited for my birthday this year as I have the day off of work! Woohooo. I’m planning on going out for lunch with Shaun and also bowling has become a bit of a tradition on birthdays so I imagine we’ll do that too. My best friends birthday is also in May so we’re also a doing a joint birthday meal with all of our friends which will be super fun.

    THE HOUSE IS FINALLY MOVING ALONG 

    As most of you know myself and Shaun are renovating our first home. We now actually have paint on the walls and it’s beginning to look so lovely. We’re hoping to be ready to move in by the end of May/ Beginning of June and I’m so excited. Our kitchen is being delivered at the end of April and our sofas are due to be arriving at the end of May!

    FAMILY BBQ 

    The weather is looking like its improving so I’m really hoping to fit in a family BBQ during spring. My parents birthdays are also both in May and we¬†usually do a BBQ with the family to celebrate all of our birthdays.

    PACKING AND SORTING OUT

    I feel really bittersweet about this but I need to start sorting out my bedroom and packing it up for when myself and Shaun move into our place. It honestly¬†makes me feel quite sad as I feel like I’m packing up my childhood and moving on. But at the same time, I’m so excited to start a new chapter of my life with Shaun. I have a¬†lot of stuff and packing up is going to be a nightmare so wish me luck haha!

    Let’s get ready for Spring

    Surely the snow has gone?! Let’s all cross our fingers and hope it doesn’t return any time soon.

    We’ve finally made it to Spring after what has felt like the longest Winter ever… I always get this feeling at this time of year that I need to make some changes, have a big clear out and sort my life out. There’s something about warmer weather that makes me feel so much more motivated.

    Here’s how I like to get ready for the springtime:¬†

    Sort out my wardrobe

    This is on my to-do list over the next couple of weeks. I like to get rid of all the clothes that no longer fit me or that I no longer wear. I always try to be pretty harsh on myself as well and I don’t keep things for the sake of it. Once I’ve sorted everything out I always donate the bits that are in good condition to a local charity shop.

    Change up my haircare

    I find over time my hair gets used to the shampoo that I’m using and it never feels like it cleans my hair so well. I’ve recently started using the¬†Garnier Ulitmate Blends Coconut Water & Aloe Vera shampoo. OH MY GOODNESS, it smells freakin amazing! The smell¬†honestly just reminds me of summer and holidays and it makes me so damn happy. Also, it does an amazing job of washing my hair and keeping the moisture locked in.

    Exercise a little more 

    I bloody hate exercise. Well actually I like swimming but there was a fire at my local pool around 15 months ago and it still hasn’t re-opened!! So I had to get a gym membership instead ūüôĀ I’m not going to lie, I hate the gym. But I’m really trying to push myself to exercise a little more during the springtime. I have a holiday coming up in about 90 days and right now I ain’t really looking my best haha. If anyone can recommend an enjoyable exercise then please do?!

    Reflect 

    I think that spring is the perfect time to sit and reflect and maybe make some goals going forward. I’ve been looking back over my Goals for 2018 and it’s good to see how I’m getting along. In fact, I may do an update post soon as to how my goals are going so far. By looking back and reflecting I’m then able to see what to do moving forward.

    The childhood tag!

    I thought I would do something a little different and fun today! Let’s be honest, our childhoods are definitely the best days of our lives. Our parents look after us, we didn’t have to pay for things, there was no boring work to go to every day and the list goes on. I stumbled across ‘The Childhood¬†Tag’ and thought it would be super fun to do.

    Where did you grow up? 

    I’ve lived in Devon, England my whole life. In fact,¬†I’ve actually lived in the same house for the whole 25 years and 10 months that I’ve been alive.

    Were you a good child? 

    Hahaha – Well I was ok I guess. I used to moan quite a lot and when I was very young my parents could never shut me up. But on the whole, I was a good child.

    What did you use to do in the summer? 

    My Grandparents had a Caravan on a site in Cornwall and we used to spend a lot of our summer at the caravan. We used to have so much fun. There was a swimming pool onsite so I spent most of my days swimming, and we use to go out to the beach and eat fish n chips.

    What is your happiest childhood memory? 

    Definitely all of the holidays that we did to Disney World. The first time I went I was 9 and then we’ve been multiple times since. Our grandparents also came with us and it was so magical and fun.

    What Job did you want to do when you got older?

    There were a few! I wanted to be a teacher, a dancer, a fashion designer and I think at one point I also wanted to be a nurse.

    Do you still have contact with your childhood friends? 

    Yes! I’m actually still really good friends with all of my childhood friends which is really cool.

    Favourite toy?

    I can’t really remember – but I did use to have a lot of dolls. Specifically Baby Born and Baby Annabel were my favourites!

    Favourite book? 

    I had a¬†collection of Disney stories that I loved, I also had a book that had lots of bedtime¬†stories. But my ultimate favourite was called Bernie Drives A Truck … I actually still have the book! (Featured in the picture above) ūüėÄ

    Favourite film? 

    101 Dalmations! I would watch it ALL the time.

    A favourite TV show?

    I had a lot haha. The main ones were Playdays, Fireman Sam, Brum and The Rugrats.

    Favourite subject at school? 

    I’ve always been very creative so loved Art and I’ve also always really enjoyed Maths… Weird I know!

    It’s ok to take a step back!

    So far 2018 has been pretty rough! I feel kind of broken at the moment. I need to take a step back, have some time to myself to recharge and that’s ok! I always push myself to keep going, but at this very moment in time, I need to take a step back from everything.

    HAVING THE FLU AND MULTIPLE COLDS

    The first week of January, I went down with the flu and ended up having 2 weeks off of work as I just couldn’t shift it. Finally, I managed to get back to work and then picked up a cold! It wasn’t until around February 18th that I started to feel human again … and then guess what?! On February 22nd I went down with another cold! As I’m sat writing this I have a box of tissues next to me and a very red nose!

    MY HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY BLOG 

    I felt annoyed at myself for not getting 2 posts up last week … but then I thought to myself ‘why am I even stressing over this?’ We’re all human, we get ill and have bad days. It’s so important to listen to our bodies which is what I did. I knew when I got home from work at 7.15pm I didn’t have it in me to sit and start writing a blog post. Instead, I came home, had a hot bath and watched Netflix.

    On top of all my illness in 2018, we also had the stress of dealing with solicitors and finalising everything with buying our house. I don’t think this helped me at all as my stress levels were through the roof. We’re now very proud homeowners and I’m so excited for everything to come. Right now I’m supposed to be stripping wallpaper, ripping up carpets and doing lots of work on the house. Instead, I’m taking it easy, watching Disney Movies and giving myself the time that I need to recover.

    IT’S OK TO NOT BE OK

    I guess the point of this post is just to say that it’s ok to not be ok! It’s ok to take time to yourself and take a step back from life every once in a while. If you’re ill or exhausted or stressed out, make sure you listen to your body and take some time for yourself and your wellbeing.
