Self-care Sundays

I don’t know about you but I like to take some time on a Sunday to recharge for the week ahead. Working long days start to take its toll after a while and I find it really necessary to recharge and prepare myself for a new week. Self-care is something that we all practice in different ways. Some like to binge watch Netflix, whilst others like to go for a long walk. That’s the beauty of self-care; there is no right or wrong. It’s just about finding what works for you.

I like to make sure that all of the boring chores such as doing the laundry and cleaning the house are done on a Saturday. This means I have all day Sunday to do whatever I please. Each week my Sunday will vary with what I do but I have certain things that I do most weeks. These are a few of my favourite things to do for some self-care on a Sunday.

Go for a walk

I like my Sunday’s to be pretty relaxed at home but I do always enjoy going for a short walk. It’s a good way to blow the cobwebs away; get some fresh air and enjoy some peaceful time. With the Autumn coming, I love going to the forest for a walk. There’s something so satisfying about walking through the crunchy leaves.

Watch a film

I mean who doesn’t enjoy laying on the sofa and watching a good film? It’s the perfect way to switch off for a few hours and enjoy some time relaxing. In the winter I always light a candle to make it extra cosy and make sure I have a blanket on hand.

Pamper myself

Sunday evenings will usually include a face mask and a hot bath. I put the fairy lights on in my bedroom and relax with a face mask and often paint my nails. Then I go and have a hot relaxing bath.

Comfy clothes

I feel most relaxed when I’m wearing comfortable clothes. For me, that’ll usually be some leggings and a cosy jumper. If I’m relaxing at home you’ll definitely never find me sat in a pair of jeans!

Roast dinner

In true British fashion, I LOVE to have a roast dinner on a Sunday. There’s something about eating a yummy roast dinner that leaves me feeling really content and happy.

    I’m usually flying solo with my kid while my partner works on a Sunday but as he’s on a rare weekend off I’m having an even more rare lie in and a quiet social media scroll from bed. As a parent, self-care for me is usually getting outside or having an early night

    Selfcare is such an important thing, that way to many people forget or ignore. And, so many women feel guilty when they take an hour to just relax.

    For me, self care often involves candles and an audiobook. I might do my nails, but often it’s just an hour relaxing while listening to a book. It’s such a great way to let the mind calm down.

    My husband and I also try to go for a walkon a Sunday, it helps us to focus, that way we can also have a bit of a nap when we get home!

    Sundays are always my day to regroup and have some me-time! I’m a big fan of a Sunday night pamper night and definitely opt for comfier clothes. If I have any baking to do that’s usually a Sunday afternoon job too x

    I always struggle with what to do on Sundays since I’m used to making myself gogogo! I do like to go for walks so looking forward to doing more of that this Autumn and, when the weather is meh, I’ll watch a film with my blanket!

    Ugh just reading about a Sunday roast made me feel like I was in my jammies and slippers and having the smell go through the whole house! I work on Sundays and haven’t had a roast in forever! Really craving one now.
