My bullet journal – January 2018 – Let’s get organised

Hello 2018!

It’s that time of year again where we get ourselves organised and plan everything out for the year ahead. I love this moment where I have a blank canvas ahead of me that I can do what I like with. Towards the end of last year, I discovered bullet journaling and I’m so excited to properly get into this for 2018.

The bullet journal I own is the Leuchtturm 1917 with the dotted paper. I didn’t really have any idea what bullet journal was best, but this is the one most people seem to buy. I’m really pleased with it, it’s a good size and the dotted paper makes designing much easier.

I love being really nosey and looking at other people’s bullet journal and seeing how they’re organising it. My favourite place the browse is on Pinterest. Today I thought I would share with you my layout for January 2018.

A monthly overview - January bullet journal

A monthly overview

A monthly overview is something I personally find really useful. I’ve done this as a double page spread so that I have ample room to write. It’s useful to have this to quickly flick through if you need to check a plan/ birthday etc. I’ve also added a ‘Goals’ section and a ‘To do’ section to this page. This is somewhere I can write down any major things that I can easily refer back to.

A weekly overview

As much as I love having a monthly overview, I decided to break this down further into a weekly overview. I looked at lots of inspiration on Pinterest and wanted to find a layout that best suited my needs. This is the best thing about a bullet journal; you can make it your own. After a long debate, I decided the most useful things for me to include in my weekly spread were:

  • The day and date that I can write next to
  • My work shift (as this changes every week)
  • Notes – To jot down anything and everything
  • To do list
  • Blog notes – I know this will be my most used section!
  • Meal planning
  • Shopping

My bullet journal weekly layout

I’m sure as I go through the weeks this will change, but that’s why I really love using a bullet journal to organise myself as I can change it at any point.

How are you organising yourselves for the year ahead?

Charlotte xx

I bought myself a bullet journal and since it’s just been sitting there, I really need to get organised and start planning with it, yours looks so beautiful!

The more I see these the more I love the idea – trouble is I have never been creative physically, for example, drawing.. I am more of a digital creative. I have notebooks but its purely for lists and brainstorming.

For me this is a get stuff done type of year, I am trying to not put things off, instead holding myself accountable. I make lots of lists in my notebooks to stay organised.

I love writing lists which is the main reason I bought a bullet journal. You don’t really need to be overly creative – Washi tape does the trick 😀

Thank you! I’ve had times where I’ve wanted to give up too. I’d recommend Pinterest for ideas 🙂

Looks like great organisation! I have a bullet journal too but I mostly use it for habit trackers of every kind and to just doodle in, also planning on doing a blog post on it soon! 🙂

I love journaling, I love looking at other people’s journals, and I love the feeling I get whenever I do either one of those. It’s just so cool, having a little window into someone else’s mind. Have you liked bullet journaling so far? Is that the only planning tool you use? I personally love it as a brain dump/diary/whatever but if I am juggling too much at once (say work, school, and my hobbies) it becomes too messy for me, so I use my Bullet Journal and Passion Planner simultaneously.

I love looking at other peoples journals too! I like to see how other people use them and take inspiration from it.

I do have a small diary that I carry around in my bag all the time, and I have a notebook that I use as a ‘brain dump’ alongside my bullet journal 🙂

I love this Charlotte! 💖 Very creative! The washi tape on your overview page is super cute! I am doing something similar by tracking my fitness in a journal. It’s definitely more motivating to workout if you record it in a pretty planner 😘 xx

I love the idea of a bullet journal but I see so many with intricate and complicated spreads that I get put off! I love that yours is functional and easier to use. I love it! 🙂

Love your Bujo layout. I tried a Bullet Journal but as a diary this didn’t work with my needs and my need for neatness. But I have been using for tracking. I then use a Blog Planner and a personal Planner. I will be doing a post on this soon xx

I could not do a bullet journal since I don’t have the patience for it to make it look nice. I found the perfect planner though, it’s almost like a bullet journal because you can add in the date and month but the layout is already set up for you. I prefer that much more!

This is such a pretty journal and it’s so satisfying seeing organisational things like this! I don’t have a bullet journal – I don’t think it’d work for me to be honest but I have plenty of notebooks and my organisational techniques seem to be doing okay for the time being! I also love the start of a new year – I’ve been SO productive and we’re only 6 days in!

You’ve done such a fab job with your joyrnal. Neat and pretty and organized. I just stick to my weekly planner and list the tasks on the left and daily achievements on the calendar side.
First week of 2018 has been adequately productive and I’m happy!

All the best with your goals. Love!
